Connecting Our House to Yours– November 2024 – November is National Hospice MonthNational Hospice Month is celebrated every November. It is a time to raise awareness about hospice, and to celebrate the people who provide this important care to patients and their families. Hospice care teams include doctors, nurses, and social workers, who work to provide care that centers on comfort and dignity. Hospice care also supports families by providing education and resources to help them manage the challenges of care giving. Crystal Coast Hospice House partners with 3HC (Home Health & Hospice) of Goldsboro that provides the compassionate care to our patients and their families. They are truly Angels on earth. Since opening in July 2013, SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House has served over 2,500 patients and families. CCHH mission statement is to provide an inpatient Hospice Home to our service region and ensure exceptional care management and perpetual funding for facilities, services, programs and future expansion. 12th Annual Gingerbread FestivalDecember 13-15, 2024There’s Something For EveryoneThe Gingerbread Festival is the primary in-house fundraiser for SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House, the Crystal Coast’s premier inpatient hospice care facility. The Gingerbread Festival has grown from a sweet spark of imagination to one of the most cherished holiday traditions on the Crystal Coast. Join us for the 2024 Gingerbread Festival December 13-15, 2024, at the Crystal Coast Civic Center, and experience the “Magic of Christmas”. Adults and children are in awe as they stroll through the winter wonderland of holiday themed crab pot Christmas trees and inhale the sweet aroma of the gingerbread creations; all created by local designers, artists, businesses, individuals, schools and community groups. Additional attractions include kid’s crafts, games, Santa visits, and holiday entertainment both Saturday and Sunday afternoon. A variety of concessions are available through out the day at the Gingerbread Café, and plenty of sweet treats at the Sweet Shop and the Bakery! Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
It’s A lot To Maintain Our HouseThe Crystal Coast Hospice House has been open for more than eleven years! Our goal is to care for and maintain the house so it remains as beautiful today as the day we opened the doors in 2013. We have a list of needs for the building, equipment, and furniture that will need to be upgraded or replaced within the next five years. Visit our website to see how your donation can help us! The Family KitchenWe Gather TogetherFor most families, the kitchen is the center of activity, preparing meals and spending time with loved ones, especially around the holidays. For the families staying at SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House, the family kitchen provides the comforts of home and a place to gather for those who are going through a difficult part of life’s journey. In 2014, we began using Meal Train to encourage volunteers to bring meals for families to enjoy at the house to make life better for those who are staying with their loved ones. This is especially meaningful during the holidays. Meals that are brought to our House are shared by everyone there and keep people from having to leave to go out to eat. They also help our families to save money by not having to go and purchase a meal somewhere else. We hope you (your office, your Sunday School class, your church, your team, your department, your club, your friends, your family, your restaurant, etc.) will consider signing up to provide a meal. Any kind of meal is appreciated, including orders from local area restaurants, but homemade meals are the best! You or your group can sign up in two ways:
