When it comes to health care, quality choices are available to meet almost every need. The exception is a hospice home that provides end-of-life care when patients' symptoms become too difficult to manage at home. In October of 2010, the State determined that Carteret County alone needed 6 acute care inpatient hospice beds. There are an additional 11 acute care beds needed in the surrounding counties.
